Dear friends of WeAreInThisTogether.eu

This Thursday the European heads of state and government will meet in a video conference. At the same time, the Corona death toll continues to rise and economic uncertainty is rampant throughout Europe. Especially Italy and other countries of Southern Europe are affected by the Corona Crisis in human and economic terms. In this situation, haggling over the necessary solidarity measures appears to be hard-hearted.

Therefore it is now time to set an example in Berlin and online: We have brought together a small alliance of pro-European initiatives (link to the appeal). This alliance, in consultation with the Italian embassy, is now calling for a political action of European solidarity and togetherness for this Wednesday.

On the premises of the Italian Embassy, from 9 a.m. this Wednesday until 9 a.m. this Thursday, there will be a banner with the words "#WeAreInThisTogether. We can only do it together! Ce la faremo solo insieme!".

Location: Italian Embassy, Hiroshimastraße 1, 10785 Berlin

Now it's up to you! Please take your time and do the following:

  1. Please enter individually starting at 9 am.
  2. Put down personal symbols of solidarity.
  3. Bring your own (!) thick marker pen and sign
  4. Take selfies and other pictures  and spread them on the internet and to friends - each with the link to www.weareinthistogether.eu and the hashtag #weareinthistogether

The decisive factor here is: Keep a minimum distance of 1.5 metres. Only come with masks! Avoid everything that puts you and others in danger.

Our pictures will spread on the Internet. In Italy, we are also setting an example of a solidary, European Germany, whose reputation has been damaged by the blockade of the German government. So let us send a signal together: We will not let Europe be destroyed! Not by those who refuse to show effective solidarity through joint loans and a large European reconstruction fund. But also not by those who populistically insist on national sovereignty and stir up anti-European resentment. Here in Germany, we are asking the German Government to show solidarity rather than cold-heartedness at the summit of heads of state and government.

With European and resolute greetings

Franziska Brantner, Sven Giegold, Alexandra Geese

P.S.: Over 23,000 people have now signed our Italian-German appeal. Let's bring it up to 25,000 now! www.weareinthistogether.eu
